About JATEM Headstones & Memorials
Honouring Lives, Celebrating Memories in New Zealand and the Pacific
Welcome to JATEM Headstones and Memorials. My name is Lateline Nofo’akifolau, and JATEM is more than a headstone business—it’s a labour of love, dedicated to helping families honour the lives and memories of those who have passed. I named the company after my children - Jasser, Anau, Tupou, Eniketi, and Mele-Naomi - because family is at the heart of everything I do. Serving others with empathy and care is what drives me, and my family keeps me grounded in that purpose.

How JATEM Began: A Mission Born in Mangere, Auckland
JATEM began in my hometown of Mangere, South Auckland, a place that has shaped who I am and remains close to my heart. When COVID-19 struck, my professional career took an unexpected turn, and I saw an opportunity to do something meaningful. Watching families unable to say their final goodbyes during lockdown deeply moved me. I wanted to help people create lasting, dignified farewells, offering comfort during challenging times.
A Personal Mission of Connection and Healing
I know firsthand the importance of a place to connect with those we’ve lost. I lost my father when I was only 16, and later, I faced the heartbreak of losing my twin sons at birth. These experiences taught me that headstones are not just markers; they’re sacred spaces where memories live on. JATEM is my way of helping families across Auckland, New Zealand, and the Pacific to create these spaces, honouring their loved ones with respect and love.

Proudly Serving the Pacific: New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Niue, and the Cook Islands
Mangere is more than just where I work—it’s my home, and it’s where I’m proud to serve my local community and families across the Pacific. My parents, who migrated from Tonga in the 1960s, helped establish the Tongan Methodist church in Mangere, which remains a strong community hub. From our base here in Auckland, I’m honoured to send our memorials to families across New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Niue, and the Cook Islands, bridging distances and keeping connections strong.
It Takes a Village: Our Community Roots
JATEM was built with the support of family and community. My mother, a resilient entrepreneur and my lifelong mentor, taught me the strength and dedication it takes to serve others. Watching her balance our family’s needs and run a business instilled in me the values of kindness, integrity, and community. Her influence is woven into JATEM, where I strive to treat every client as part of our extended family.
Grounded in Faith, Family, and Integrity
Faith, family, and integrity are the values that guide everything we do at JATEM. I believe in “God’s timing” - a lesson that’s taught me patience and humility. When families come to us, I know they’re often going through a vulnerable time, and I see it as a privilege to support them. Listening to their stories, understanding their needs, and creating a headstone that truly honours their loved one is my commitment to them.
Each memorial we create at JATEM is a labour of love, a tribute to a life well-lived, and a connection that endures. I am deeply honoured to serve families across Auckland and the Pacific, including New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Niue, and the Cook Islands, as they honour their loved ones with lasting memorials.
Thank you for visiting JATEM Headstones and Memorials.
I’m here to support you through every step of this journey and to create a headstone that truly honours the person you hold dear.
